Sucre, Bolivia

Our day in Sucre started super early as our bus arrived at 5 AM. The bus station was 1.5 miles away from our hostel, and normally we would just walk, but we weren't sure it was safe to walk that section in the dark so we ended up taking a cab.  Jenny and I rang the doorbell and hoped that they would let us drop our bags off and stay in the hostel until things opened. The front desk lady was accommodating, very understanding, and allowed us to drop our bags off and hang out in the kitchen until our room was ready at noon. Jenny and I used that time to look up things we wanted to do in Sucre.

We learned after arriving that most tourists come to Sucre for their Spanish schools because they are very cheap and because Bolivians speak clean, slow Spanish which makes it easier to understand,  Since we weren't interested in taking Spanish lessons, we also learned that there are nice city parks and a cool park outside Surcre that has dinosaur footprints
! Other than that, many of the other activities that Sucre advertises are actually multi-day excursions to do outdoor activities outside of Sucre.  Unfortunately, we only had another day or so before we needed to catch the night bus to La Paz, so we decided to just say local and explore Sucre without doing any crazy excursions.

By 10am we were getting stir crazy just sitting in the kitchen, so we decided to wander around town and look for lunch/breakfast. We found a place called Abis CafĂ© which was highly rated on trip advisor and right by one of the main plazas. The wifi was strong and Jenny and I ordered lunch food at 10am. I think we were the only ones eating a burger and a panini at 10am, but since we had been up for so long, it felt like lunch time.  To go along with our sandwiches, we got a fruit-milk drink (I had pineapple, Jenny had her classic banana). The fruit con leche have started to become one of our favorite things to get and since fruit is so cheap in Bolivia, it’s a great deal.  After lunch, we just sat in the plaza doing a little people watching before heading back to our hostel to check in. Once we checked in, we went straight upstairs to take an hour nap.  Per Jenny's standard naps, our 1 hour nap turned into a 3 hour nap.  We definitely needed it though after the horrible bus ride.  We spent the rest of the day around the hostel planning and catching up on things we had put off during the salt flats tour.

We finally decided it was time for dinner around 8 PM.  We didn't really feel like leaving the hostel, so I went out and bought some dulce de leche, eggs, bananas and a cantaloupe for us to cook breakfast for dinner since we already had some Bisquick for pancakes.
